Mila needed some snuggles!
Mila has the funniest expressions!

Your happy girls do make me smile! They are all three so beautiful. I love how much Sofia laughs so much!
ReplyDeleteSo adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful, stunning, amazing photos of your 3 gorgeous daughters!
ReplyDeleteHuge smiles......Susan from Boston
The girls certainly looked like they had a great time at the ice cream shop. All three of the girls have wonderful expressions. I am sure other parents of DS children learn so much from reading your posts. Sarah, you explain things so well. Others who don't read your posts certainly are missing out. It is so nice that you have a firm support group and an amazing group of friends ad family. Zoya, Mila and Sofia are the luckiest girls in the world to have you and Shawn as parents. Carol

Beautiful girls. You cannot help but smile. Happy 4th of July to you all.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog and the girls are so precious. We adopted 2 little ones as well 10 months ago. They both are grinding their teeth all the time and I haven't found anything that helps. They won't take binkys, (they just flap them in the air and self stem. Do you have any ideas and have you struggled with this. I am old enough to be your mom and have 10 grown childre and 12 grandchildren but you seem a lot wiser than me at dealing with these little guys. Thanks for the help!
Hi Evelyn! Congrats on your new additions!!! As far as the teeth grinding, if you can figure out WHY they are doing it, then you'll know how to help (but knowing why is the hard part!) Zoya used to grind her teeth when she was first home, but it stopped after a month or two. Mila, I have noticed, very rarely grinds her teeth, but when she does I have figured out it's when she is in pain (teething, sick, etc.)....Also, have they had their thyroids tested? Teeth grinding is common with hypothyroidism and hypothyroidism is very common in kids with DS! If you've ruled out anything causing them pain and hypothyroidism, I'd look at two things: diet/supplements, and oral motor input. Many kids with DS are deficient in magnesium and a magensium deficiency can also cause teeth grinding! Are they sleeping okay? I give it at night to help with better sleep as well :) We use lots of tools to give the girls sensory input. Zoya likes to mouth and chew on lots of things, as does Sofia. Sometimes kids who need oral motor input will grind their teeth to "get their fix" as well. Things like a "z-vibe" or a cheaper way is to get a vibrating tooth brush or vibrating teethers, p-chews, chew tubes, nuk brushes, etc. may give them the sensory input they are seeking if that is why they are grinding their teeth. You could try the vibrating toothbrush or teethers throughout they day as a preventative measure as well as trying to stop the grinding by giving them the teethers/tooth brush when you notice they're doing it and see if it helps! Hopefully something here is helpful :)
