WE MADE IT TO DAY 10 POST OP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mila pretty much rocked her tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy......well for the first day anyways ;) Day 5 hit her REALLY hard. We were able to finally have some pain medication called in (after many calls and pleas)  and the first dose of that seemed to give her some relief for about 30 minutes.....but the pain had just gotten too far ahead of her (despite me giving her tylenol and motrin around the clock as directed). We were able to get some liquidy foods into her like yogurt and pudding, up until Friday, and then she began refusing all food and drink. She was absolutely miserable! Her nose was a constant yellow faucet and she could barely swallow her own saliva :( They warned us about the bad breath but it is seriously like a dead animal wearing a dirty diaper in a zoo in the middle of August!!!!!!! It is THAT bad! I could not even syringe feed her as she just could not swallow. It all just leaked back out her mouth :( We tried a second pain med and it didn't even see to touch the pain. She just cried and clung to me for dear life. Poor bean had no idea why she felt so lousy! I have never seen her in that much pain (not even after her open heart surgery....maaaaaybe similar to the pain she was in with the chest tube in after her pericarditis, but I think this was a tad worse :( )

Monday we took her into the ER for IV fluids and some IV pain meds. We were hoping we'd see her perk up right away, and she did a little bit, but it was very short lived. We got home from the ER at 3:30 Monday afternoon  and she napped until I woke her up at 6:30pm. She fell back asleep on me and was only able to wake up for about an hour. She went back to bed at 8:30 and slept through the night until 8:30 the next morning. Tuesday she napped from 10:30-1:30, and then again from 2:30-4:30, and back in bed at 7:30 :( She was very miserable yesterday. This morning, Praise God (day 10) she woke up a little happier and seems to have turned the corner! She's still napping a lot today but she is eating and drinking (a little) and her smile is back and her happy noises are too :) Her color looks MUCH better today! She is still in pain, but overall a huge improvement today!!! Wowza what a tough recovery this was for her!!!!!

A smile from the short lived effects of the pain meds!

Sweet Zoya helped feed Sofia some breakfast because Mila insisted I snuggle her tight with both arms a lot!

Zoya made sure that Pooh Bear got babied as well. Turns out he had the same surgery as Mila!

Waiting in the ER

Everyone at the ER was SO SO kind. The awesome nurse got her IV in on the first stick!!! This is the first time anyone has ever been able to do that, Mila is a tough stick!

Sleeping on mama while getting rehydrated via IV

Mama has dark circles too :(

She started perking up for a few moments during the IV and even took 2 sips!

On her way home and tuckered out!

Lots of sleeping to help with recovery!

Sweet Dr. Zoya trying to make it all better! She kept saying "Mila throat!"
Turning the corner today!!!
Yay for Mila girl returning to herself!!!!!! I missed her!!!!!

  3. Poor little pumpkin. Don't ya just hate when they hurt and you can't help?
My daughter had a horrible tonsillectomy recovery, too. Seems like it took forever and I just had her to take care of. I hope you all are feeling perky now.

  4. Awww, poor sweet Mila!! I'm sorry she's had such a rough time of it and glad to hear she has turned the corner and is doing better. That must be a relief all around! Sweet big sister Zoya seems to be quite the helper feeding her baby sister breakfast! Hope your weekend was a good one!
